on my motherboard (i know, this is probably the wrong forum but...) bios there is an option to set pci frequency. i assume default leaves it syncronous so that it oc's with the fsb. if i wanted to lock the frequency, what mhz do i set it at?

specs in sig...

also...

here's a link to a review of the mobo in HardOCP with some pics of the bios if it helps. i got great memory, my processor is running cool at 240, and my psu is top notch. so i'm trying to find my limitation and i think this might be it. any help in this area, or other ideas that might be helpful are greatly appreciated.

I've had mine locked @ 100MHz with no problems. I think that is "default/stock" speed but I'm not 100% on that.

I've been Googling for awhile now and haven't come across a definate answer. I assume 100MHz is the default PCIe bus speed because both the Asus A8N-SLI and the Gigabyte K8NXP-SLI both have PCIe BIOS clock settings that start at 100MHz.

I came across a lot about bandwidth but that doesn't appear to be very helpful in determining the correct/default PCIe speed.... (Try searching "PCIe bus speed")

default PCI-E runs at 2.5ghz fom my knowledge... although in my BIOS i can set fom 100-200mhz... SO I am assuming it uses a 25x multi or some such...

Anyway i have ran mine out of spec to the 130mhz freq b4... and i didn't notice any performance advantage (this was with one 6800GT)... although i could have sworn i saw an increase in the avg fps of an uncached 1st run of doom23 timedemo vs 100mhz stock PCI-E... If i used the "usecache" or ran it a 2nd or 3rd time the results were the same...
