PCI-Express in AMD?

Hey im wondering how long it will take for manufactures to release PCI-X AMD mobos cuz im in the market for a high end computer and i dont want to upgrade a year from now.

Sometime in the near future. And just for reference it is not PCI-X. PCI-X runs on a 66mhz bus and is used on highend server boards. PCI-E is wha your referring to and that is completely different.

ok thx for telling me the diff between PCI-E and PCI-X. so like a month from now or like the end of the year?

Yeah more or less Q3 and it wil become much more prominent in Q4 and Q1 '05.

so should i wait until PCI-E comes out or should i just build my system now. Keep in mind that i dont want to upgrade for a while. Also im planning on buying a x800 xt pe or 6800 ultra. So by the time PCI-E comes out fully do u think it will be time to upgrade or not?

Well it really depends on how long a while is. If your talking a year or two, eh. But more than that i would go for it when it comes out. But also keep in mind if you just wait you could get BTX in the system. I would wait until Q1 of '05 or even Q2. But right now its $$$ and personal preference.

well i dont think im gonna wait untill next year for my comp cuz im desperate for a new computer. Also somewhere i read that BTX wond be out until Q2 of 05. So when BTX comes out ill probably upgrade.
