PCI express backwards compatability

So I have a gigabyte ds3l motherboard, (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128059) and the 8800GT I had on it died recently.

So I've been looking for a cheap video card just to get the pc running again, since I don't game anymore. The card I am looking to buy is here:

I think the ds3l is pci express 1.0, but the hd 5450 is pcie 2.1. Are they back ward compatible?

There are some motherboards that have problems but 99% of them are backwards compatable, don't worry about it.
