PCI express 3.0 compatible ?

I have a PSU that supports PCI Express 2.0 according to the spec. Will it support PCI express 3.0 ? It has a 6+2 connector

as far as I know, it will. does your motherboard support 3.0? that is the most important part for pci-e 3.0 support. if that doesn't then it doesn't matter what you have. you will also need at least an ib cpu and a 3.0 vid card.

I'm using a corsair 750 that is around the same vintage and it works just fine for pci-e 3.0

My PC is from 2011 .. Came with PCIe 2.0 Gear .. I did upgrade the cards later to 7970s without the need to replace anything .. same PSU should be fine ..

The 6+2 can work perfectly as 8 pin or you can keep 2 pins hanging and use it as 6 pin ..
