just wondering if anyone has seen any 8 pin pci express 2 adapters for sale? i have a duro 900 watt power supply, plenty of power for two 2900 cards but it doesn't have any 8 pin pci 2 express power connectors, only the six pin type and i dont see any adapters included in the parts list for the cards. does anyone know where to buy one? i see that corsair has been offering them for current owners of new power supplies, i just wondered where i could buy a generic one so i dont have to shell out for a new power supply since mine is no small fry and fairly new.

good news, can anyone confirm this for sure? if so my power supply already has two 6 pin outputs and i have plenty of 4 pin outputs to put on two of the normal pci express adaptors, i just want to make sure i power the two 2900's properly so i can over clock.

It's required to overclock. The overdrive feature will not be unlocked without it.

You can use 3rd party without it , but it is not recommended.

Of the 2 cards on the egg. The Powercolor one seems to come with Power adapters , but I cant' tell if they are 2 (6 pins)or a (6 and 8 pin) from the pic . Can anyone else offer some insight .The sapphire card doesn't show to come with power adapters at all.
And on the other hand the Powercolor does'nt say anything about the HL2 coupon nor does it have a box shot with it on there.
I was going to buy the powercolor one as I need the power adapters, but I also want the HL2 coupon.

yea, same thing i saw, they almost look like two 6 pin connectors, i ordered the sapphire cards though since they were $399 at zipzoomfly with free shipping and the valve black box didn't hurt either.

someones got to be selling the 8 pin connectors, heck, maybe corsair will be selling the ones they are offering to current customers. i just hate to buy a new power supply when i have a 900 watt monster already.

Well my last 2 cards (X800GTO & X1900GT) have both been sapphire and have been good to me so I will ordering the sapphire one as well .
I am a diehard egg fan so I will just purchase from there and buy a couple of extra cables just in case . Doesn't hurt to have extra cables anyway.

hey im a newegg fan too but you can save $30 at zipzoomfly if you buy two 2900 cards, no shipping and 10 bucks cheaper on each card. im all for fan loyalty but newegg hasn't given me anything spectacular worth throwing away $30 bucks on, heheh. now if they offered a pci express 2 adapter i might think twice since it would save much headache, heheh.

Bahhh . Well its done , I orderd my 2900xt from the egg.
Out of all the stuff I have ever orderd from there I have never used any shipping option other than the 3 day, so I thought what the heck , I will get this baby here tomorrow . I
chose next day air and the rush proccessing . It only added like eighteen bux to the bill .
Can't wait!!!!!!!!!!

Hmm...I did some searching, and apparently the connectors are keyed differently. The adapter I linked to won't work for the 2900XT. You will need to find one specifically made for PCI-E--possibly by contacting your PSU manufacturer.

Logisys 12V Molex to 8pin P8 Adapter for PCI-Express Video Cards, Model: AD202

This adapter converts 2 standard 4-pin Molex coonectors into 1 8-pin P8 connector allowing you to use today's powerful motherboards! This Add-On Cable brings expanded functionality to any high end power supply that hasn't passed it's life cycle but is missing some latest connectors.
it doesn't work for HD2900xt?!?

christ, it better work, mine came today and the cards come tomorrow. ill tell you what if it doesnt work im returning the whole mess and just ordering one ultra 8800. this is just getting outrageous that we have to jump through these hoops for a damn 30 cent connector that ati was too cheap to include and impossible for the average person to even locate.

it 'looks' like it should work ... i hope so - good luck!
--i know i don't have to ask you to let us know :)

--and AMD forgot a lot of things with that most underwhelming launch ... a cheap adapter is a small part of it

The new PCI-E 8-pin isn't compatible with the EPS 12V 8-pin, right?

Can anyone confirm? Is the new 8-pin for PCI-E interchangeable with EPS 8-pin? My guess is it isn't, but if by any chance it is, you can connect the 4-pin P4 12V on the motherboard and the other 8-pin for the video card. (and pray everything will be OK)

im trying to find a really close up picture of the 2900's power connections to see if they are. and if this is the case where are we supposed to find these mythical pci2 express adapters?
