PCI-Express 2.0 x1 Fit in a x16 Slot?

Does anyone know if a PCI-Express 2.0 x1 controller card will work in a PCI-Express 2.0 x16 slot? I think PCI-E 2.0 slots in general are backwards compatible... think that is, still it doesn't hurt to ask the pro's. If it helps any the motherboard I have is an ASUS P6T Deluxe V2 with the following slots:
  • PCI Express x4_1 slot
  • PCIe 2.0 x16_1 slot (blue, at x16 link)
  • PCI slot 1
  • PCI slot 2
  • PCIe 2.0 x16_2 slot (white, at x16 link)
  • PCIe 2.0 x16_3 slot (black, at max. x8 link)
Currently PCIe 2.0 x16_1 slot (blue, at x16 link) is being used by my video card, the other slots are all available.

FYI all this is so I can install:
SATA 6.0Gb/s Controller Card (newegg link)

part of the point of pci-e is that cards will work in pretty much any slot that will physically accept them. 2.0 on 2.0 should be fine.
