PCI Express 2.0 coming soon

First of all, the little I know about this is that PCI-e 2.0 is suppose to add more frequency somewhere; 500mhz ??? not sure but what was interesting is that ATI was mentioned and that some of their cards out today are PCI e 2.0 ready. Wouldn't that be interesting.

Correct me if I am wrong. This is something interesting in all. Anyone heard more details on PCI-e 2.0 yet?

This is absolutely uninteresting, as even the most extreme of the current set of video cards are *FAR* from approaching the limits of existing PCI-Express X16 bandwidth.

PCI-e 2.0 is just a new format that ensures that when cards quadruple in performance in 2-3 years, that the bus will be there to allow that performance to be maximized. It's utterly meaningless today, unless you're a mobo engineer, or do PCB work for a video card maker.

By the time you will likely own a card that is hampered by the bandwidth of a 16x PCI-E 1.x slot, you'll probably have switched motherboards once or twice as well.

they do have pci-e 2.0. the point is that it's going to be a LONG time before vid cards get bandwidth-limited by pci-e 1.0.
