I'm in need of a video card that works on 2 different motherboards One motherboard has a PCI-Exp x8 slot, the other has a PCI-Exp x16 slot. Can the PNY GeForce 8600 GT/GTS video card, which has a PCI-Exp x16 host interface, work with both? If this will not work, any other card suggestions? Thanks.

it depends if the slot is physically x16 or not.

i knnow some nforce 405 boards have electrically x8 slot with x16 physically (intel 945gz boards generally are like ths too with a x4 slot that is physically x16 size).

it will work if that is the case. if it is some server board with a physically x8 slot (usually for raid adapters) then it wont work (it might if you cut the end of the the slot off and use an 8600gts with external power... MAYBE itll work)
