I originally had a Biostar NF4 SLI mobo and a coolermax powersupply.

Beginning of this week, the system was no longer booting after being stable for months. Computer would not reach bios and would hang right before it, so that the dvd drives wouldnt eject, etc.

Figured it was a weird powersupply bug, so bought a new Antec truepower2.0. That didnt solve the problem. So I ordered a new mobo, a Asus A8N-E NF4 Ultra.

Now the computer powers up, but brings me to this latest problem:

Computer does not want to run off my PCI-E video card (MSI x800xl) and will boot fine off of an old Voodoo3 PCI card.

If the voodoo3 is in it boots to windows normally. And then I get the usual driver bullshit b/c I swapped mobos.

X800XL will not boot to windows. Mobo will beep 3 times and not do anything.

Mobo settings do not help. I set the setting for PCI-E priority over PCI on the default video adapter. It still ignores the PCI-E. I have tried all of this with both cards in, one card in, etc.

Any advice?

edit:
my current setup is:
ASUS A8N-E NF4U
A64 Venice 3000
AntecTruepower 2.0
MSI x800xl
2x1gig mushkin ram

Sounds like you found what the problem was with the first motherboard.

The video card.

Did you try the Voodoo card in the first motherboard?
