PCI-E x16 1.0 vs PCI-E x16 2.0

I've been out of the loop for a while and now I've been looking at new video cards. I notcied there is a new PCI-E bus. I read the sticky but it doesn't state... are PCI-E 2.0 video cards compatible with a 1.0 slot and vice-versa (maybe this should be added in?).

It increased the amount of power allowed to be provided through the slot itself, and increased PCI-e bandwidth. It's backwards compatible though, and you shouldn't have any issues using a new card in a PCI-e x16 1.0 motherboard. If your motherboard is particularly old, then you might want to do some specific research there. I seem to recall hearing about one or two isolated compatibility problems, but those were very specific niche issues.
