Anyone know if a PCI-E x1 card (e.g. soundcard) will work on a PCI-E 3.0 x16 slot on the motherboard?

Help plz?

Also great solid latency if you use the PCI-e 3.0 which bypassed the slower SMBus where PCI-e 1X loses it's oomph.
I use a PCI-e 1X connector to an external 1U DSP rack for audio, so I am anxious to see if that gets a boost, or at least better DPC scores. I miss the old IRQ techniques of getting less interferrance. But not having 32bit PCI slots

Yes it will. Also the PCIe 3.0 slto actually idles in 1.1 mode with GFX cards.

How will it connect though?, the part the fills up the gap between the connector on a PCI x1 card is at the back of a PCI x16 slot

I was curious about the same thing as the OP, I've only been looking at Mobo's with a PCI x1 slot before the PCI x16 slot so I can put my TV tuner in.
