Hi:

I do not have any knowledge about this so excuse my question. Looking for reasonable price (around 100~125) PCI-e card for PC I am building. I have intel motherboard with Pentium D processor. I am not hard core gamer. Most of my work is with Photoshop, amature video editing and kids occationlly play games. Monitor - going to get LCS 20 inch.

Thanks,

shreeit

An X700 Pro is also pretty nice, especially once you clock it closer to a X700XT.

it's the best at the $120 price point. there is one other card you may want check out. it was $108 last time i checked. x800 vanilla (12 pipes vs 6600gt's 8). it has only 128 vram but the reason' its so much cheaper than the other x800s is taht it supposedly has ddr memory vs gddr3 (not sure how many frames it loses). the 6600gt should be a good bet either way.

There's no better card than a 6600gt. They really are great performers, plus they have shader model 3 support.

Which you probably dont care about. But i do. :)

search for a used X800 256mb PCI-e. you can find them for under $150, they should stomp the 6600GT.

mucho faster than 6600gt. I mean much much much much faster. 128mb more framebuffer, 128bit more memory bandwith, similar clocks, 4 more pipes, what's not to like? seriously. refurb though.-$150

comparable. Mostly slightly slower, sometimes it can be vastly faster in shader intensive or higher resolutions and aa.

Yes it is... the closest comparison to it was the x700xt, which was never realsed. And plus, even if you clock the x700pro to xt speeds, you can clock the 6600GT even higher. Otherwise, the x800GTO (if unlocked) and 6800GS are better, but those are above the $130 range.

best value around. Aside from that x800GT still works wonders I guess :)
