Bump.

I'm curious about the same thing.

I have this FSP Group 500W power supply that only has one PCI-E 6-pin connector. I see that the newer video cards these days require 2 6-pin PCI-E connectors, and they often come with the adapters linked in #2 of the Original Post.

Are the adapters that come with the video cards good enough? If so, why don't most people just use them rather than worrying about how man PCI-E connectors their power supply has??

I'd go this route. In fact, I did. I have a machine with an EarthWatts 650W PSU, with 300W worth of power on the PCI-E connector rail, and it only has a 6-pin and 6+2-pin PCI-E connectors. I needed four 6-pin PCI-E connectors for four 9600GSO cards. So I used two splitters, and it runs fine.

Thanks all.

I ordered a pair of what virtuallarry suggested because the others are available locally if I need them.

I don't think any come with my cards but I may be pleasantly surprised.
