I just got an Abit AN8-SLI last night and put it into my system, there are a couple things I am curious about.
First, the ATX plug on the motherboard did NOT appear to be any different than the one on my MSI K8N Neo Platinum (NF3 AGP S754).
So all is good and fine except after I powered up the computer the first couple of times I turned it off, then turned it back on, before the POST screen came up however it shut down, completely powered off, did this a couple more times, then came back on no problemo after that.
However, once it came back on it said it was operating in "failsafe mode, please recheck the bios".
I have the little four pin adapter plugged in (just like it was on my last motherboard) by the CPU socket, HOWEVER, one thing I did NOT do is plug TWO 4-pin molex's into the little Y thing that plugs into the PCI-e video card.
Why didn't I do that?
Well, because the manual for the 6800GT PCI-e said to "plug in the auxiliary power adapter" and had a picture of ONE plug being plugged into it (it wasn't a Y either though). So before I went just willy nilly plugging in a bunch of molex's and roasting my new 6800GT I figured I would ask you guys.
Now, as I mentioned, I read the faq at the top of the page and it SEEMS to say that I should just plug two in, but I want to make sure, and also, I want to know if you guys think that could be causing the perpetual "failsafe mode" and the shutdons that preceed them.
Thanks for the input and please, be gentle on me.
