PCI-E: One of the longest enduring standards for desktop PCs?

What about USB? The first PC with USB that I owned was in 1997 (although that was a laptop, not a desktop), one year after the USB spec was released. Today, 20 years later, I have a PC with compatible USB sockets on it. It's looking quite likely that it will last another 20 years too.

True. Anyone know how long serial and parallel were 'current'?

Everything we use today is very old I guess, newer standards are only more modified older standards.
Not yet mentioned was a capacitive touchscreen that has been installed on couple of HP rigs in 1980s.

DVI has had a good run; it was designed in 1999 and is still in use.

How 'bout RJ45? Coaxial cable? Not exactly PC specific tech but modern coax dates back to 1936 or so.
