PCI-e Compatibility ( 3.0 GPU whit 1.x MOBO )

I want to buy a gigabyte windforce r7 260x GPU but I have an old mobo, whitch support only 1.0 ( It's saying only PCI-e 16x ). It will work ? Mobo is: 0a64h ( old one )
I know it will be botlenecked by CPU, but I will buy it for a future build 🙂

Yes it should work, but it will be limited to the bandwidth of 1.0. Granted a 260x is not the fastest GPU so it shouldn't make a big difference...

I seen some places that they are SOME GPU-s which aren't compatible whit PCI 1.x, and on recommended it's PCI-e 2.0. This is just a fake info, and I can use PCI-e 3.0 GPU on PCI-e 1.0 (x16) ?

It's not fake info, they do recommend 2.0 or greater because most modern GPUs are bandwidth limited in PCIe 1.0. But like I said, a 260x isn't a blazing fast GPU and your not going to be doing any high def gaming with it so you likely won't even notice a difference. In general, PCIe is backwards compatible.

Okkey, thanks for replys! I will buy that GPU, I hope that everything will be fine 🙂 I read a lot of forums about this, and I was 75% sure, cuz there were some places where they said that it will not work... Now, somehow I feel more safely :3 Thanks for everything. PS: I know that CPU is bottlenecking, but I will change the pc in some years.
