currently using the 6600

CLK 350
MCLK 550
Memory size 128
Interface PCI-E
Pipelines 8

thinking about upgrading to the 6600GT

but im curious to know if the 6600GT is actually worth it
or if i should actually save up a little more for the 6800

any opinons and/or recommendations for another card will be well appreciated

Save up for a 6800. Switching to a 6600GT will show a slight increase of performance. Upgrading to a 6600GT is not worth it IMO

My 2 options are:

x800 vanilla
6800 NU

[console fanboy]OMG WHY UPDATE WHEN THE NEW SYSTEMS ARE COMING OUT SOON?!?! COMPUTERS ARE GONNA DIE!111!1!!1one111!1!1[/console fanboy]

but yea, go for a 6800 or an x800 vanilla.

The thing is the 6800NU isn't much faster than a 6600GT either. In fact the 6600GT equals or beats it in many benchmarks. I challenge anyone to show me benchmarks where the 6800NU beats the 6600GT by a significant margin. If anything it might happen at very high resolutions with lots of AA/AF, but you won't be playing at those settings with this card.

This is true, indeed.

EDIT: My input: Why do you need to upgrade now? I'd say wait a little bit longer if you don't mind the performance of your 6600 right now until the next generation cards are released.

Well, I wouldnt go for the vanilla 6800, the 6600GT sometimes beats it.. The GT clock is 1/2 as fast again as the 6600, so yes, performance improvement, however, I would stick with what you have and clock the hell out of it until you can afford the 78xx series...

Wait for the price drops on the 6 series due to the upcoming release of the X1 series.
Well im assuming there will because NV has no mid range 7 series nor the low end as well.
