PCI-E 2.0 ???

Senior member
Can new to be released PCI-E 2.0 cards run on standard PCI-E boards?

What are the differences between PCI-E 2.0 and the older version?

PCI-E 2.0 is backwards compatible with PCI-E 1.x.

The only real difference is that it's capable of twice the bandwidth and greater power delivery. You won't actually need it for several years as current cards don't come close to maxing out a PCI-E 1.x x16 slot.

thanks

yeh thats what i was thinking about PCI-E 2.0 , cards such as the 7950gt still run just as well on AGP 8x as PCI-E and that has half the bandwith on standard PCI-E x16
