OK - so far I've had tons of help from you folks on anandtech. Here's another one that's got me stumped:

After installing my new 9700pro Radeon, I noticed that Win2k tried to install a new PCI device in my system. It couldn't find any drivers to support it, so I just skipped it.

My computer is working just fine and I have no major problems with it, except I have that darn PCI Device disabled in Device Manager! The only other card I have in my system is a 56k fax modem that I basically don't use (have it in there just in case I need to FAX).

I have uninstalled the device in device manager, unplugged the modem, unplugged my AGP vid card, used an old PCI vid card, etc.

I'm at a loss at what this thing is! I didn't have this come up before my 9700pro was installed, but even now after I have uninstalled it and put in the old PCI vid card, I still get this darn thing popping up!

Any thoughts?

check the system bios, maybe there's some onboard devices that are enabled, and windows want drivers for it.

You would want to check under integrated peripherals.

ah yes... that was the 1st thing I checked. I have disabled everything I don't use (e.g. serial, parallel, even firewire, etc).

I have cleared CMOS, loaded defaults, etc.

Check ATI and see if you have a second monitor installed
This will show up under ATI display...
(I don't have the 9700 card but I figure ATI software is the same)

yes - I have "Radeon 9700 pro" and "Radeon 9700 pro - secondary"

That looks like it is installed correctly.

verify your chipset drivers are updated, if not update them, it sounds something like a USB to PCI bridge or of the similar sort
