Hi,
I have an XP1600+ i unlocked it and put it @ 10X166. It runs fine... except after a minute or two in windows my modem sound and network cards stop working.
I have an ASUS a7v-333 and a stick of 512mb pc2700 ram.
The mobo claims it is running 166/33 so why would the pci cards stop working? Is there an update for the mobo i need to get? If anyone has had this problem or has any suggestions please post
thx

Does windows crash or just the pci cards stop working... and all of em too. What PSU are you using, if it's a cheap one it might not be pumping out enough power.

only thing i can think of. Sometimes my SBlive! will knock out on me from high pci since i'm running 38mhz pci, but all i need to do is run the diagnostic prog it came with and the card works again- don't even need to reboot.

EDIT: did you try lowering ram timings and returning everything to stock to see if the pci cards don't crash. if it does it could still be the PSU from the CPU drawing more power when overclocked. still very weird

my mobo has an onbaord sound card and when I have it running when i'm runnung @ 166fsb it will crash after a few mins in windows and also bring down all my pci cards with it. Without it enabled everything works perfectly. I dont get it... the 166fsb has a 1/5 divider so my pci is running @ 33mhz, but is there something wrong with this mobo that its onboard sound is crashing when teh fsb is at 166? I upgraded to the newest bios flash but that didn't seem to do anything helpfull.

What do you mean by PCB version? When I look in asus prob it says Version REV 1.xx ...

anyhelp would be great

EDIT: yes, my computer does not show any signs of instability when running 10X166, all that happens is that i lose sound network and modem use...
