Hi all

Can anyone recommend me a good 2D/3D card for DOS/W98 Games
233MMX
Socket 7 i430
64mb ram (board supports up to 256mb)
CF card

I currently have a Diamond S3 2000 2MB ram + Voodoo 2
I want it to support full DOS 90> games. Hexen, Keen, Doom, Duke, Wolf3d, Rise of Triad etc. no older than these.
And to support up to 2000 Games, I know the 233MMX is a bit bottleneck.
I play Heroes 3, Sims 1. they both run but a bit slow. Is it because of the 2MB I have on my S3?
I can't managed to get them working on the Voodoo 2 because it's not 3D games.

I have an option to get a Savage 4 8MB or a Voodoo Banshee.
Would they perform better? that way I might not need the Voodoo 2?

If you can, get the Banshee. It's one hell of a 2D card (full GDI+/DirectDraw acceleration) and quite competent for 3D. It can actually be faster then a Voodoo2 if the game uses single texturing.

You also get access to 3dfx Glide. For that full authentic experience.

Edit; It was DirectDraw acceleration. Direct2D is something else entirely.

My advice is to take Banshee too, i had one of those back in the days. Had no problems with Sims or any DOS-game
