PCI 5-port USB card

The icon that appears in the tray (by the clock) when you have your laptop in a port replicator or have inserted a USB flash-drive or whatever does not appear. Is there a way to turn this thing on/off? ? My situation in particular: I have a USB flash-drive that I use regularly but when I insert it into the USB port which is from a 5 port USB PCI card the icon doesn't appear and I have to go into hardware manager and disable/turn off the thing in order to pull it out w/out any risk of screwing something up. - Is this a problem inherent in PCI USB cards or something?

You may have to check the "Hide Inactive Icons" box to be able to click the "Customize" button and fiddle with your taskbar icon settings.
