How are they able to get such high min fps when so many videos show it stutter badly on all setups?

Must be another case of canned "Benchmark Mode" not representative of actual gameplay at all.

I'm on a 980 Ti and the 40-ish minimum FPS is actually similar to what I'm getting. The problem with this game is the incredibly poor frame pacing. The drops from 60 -> 40 are VERY frequent and it's never a gradual drop, it happens fast and sudden.

And, there's nothing you can do to lessen the drops. I tried dropping down to 720p and was getting the same minimums as on 3440x1440.

The first chart nicely shows that there is some bottleneck not related to the GPU. All of them have the same minimum at 1080p. For sure either a CPU or IO bottleneck. Maybe streaming stuff of HDD or going to system RAM frequently.

I reckon its a combination of streaming content & CPU bottleneck with PhysX, cos steam users report a major increase in performance when they force PhysX to GPU.

Actually the devs released a statement, they suggest NV users on SLI to disable it, set 1 GPU to PhysX to improve performance. :)

"When running Nvidia SLI, using the NVIDIA Control Panel to set one card as a dedicated PhysX card may improve performance."

Man these guys are a joke:

Also, none of these review sites actually played the game (paid reviews!):

Look at the glorious scores they are giving it!

Before we all start making presumptions, It runs smoothly enough maxed out on my setup. I believe there are still Ram issues that will be hopefully sorted in the next patch.

When I'm grounded and fighting my fps is similar to yours. But right when I jump off a building and fly down I can get dips into the 20's. I'm on a 980ti as well is your cpu making that much difference keeping the mins up?

Exactly, unless my i5 2500k @ 4.5 is no longer doing its job.

Called it.

The game engine build date is 2012, or around the same time Arkham City came out. I'd imagine this game is still using an x87 non-multi-threaded physx build, while the consoles got an up to date AVX multi-threaded enabled build. The game needs GPU physx (ideally on a separate card) to run well. Physx is also much more highly used in this game, with destructible everything.

Disk performance issues are expected in an open world game, but it seems like maybe their DRM is exacerbating the problem.

The game runs great if you have a dedicated physx card and run the game off an SSD. Otherwise...

The game is also running in DX9 mode (why? previous Arkham games had dx10 and dx11 support) and missing a ton of graphical effects.

Ha, my i5 750 and 780 combo gets 76 average and 54 minimum fps beating the entire 1080p chart! Not even using the game ready driver (although this that might have something to do with it)

Edit: after putting the game on my SSD I've not seen it dip below 30. I've not removed the cap though.

They've even ordered physical copies pulled from shelves:

UPDATE 25TH JUNE 11.30AM: A GAME employee has told Eurogamer that the PC version of Batman: Arkham Knight are now being pulled from shop shelves.

We enquired whether we could still buy a copy of the game even in full knowledge that the game had bugs, and was told that the chain had been ordered by publisher Warner Bros. to immediately stop selling PC copies.

"We have the stock," the GAME employee told us, "but I'm not allowed to sell it to you".

Almost wish I had a copy, in case this turns into an ET-style lost game, bulldozed in a desert :D

Straight console port, game has like 5 settings one could tweak which helps the game in no meaningful way and like 5 gameworks feature toggles that even further tanks performance for a smidgen of eye candy. What a joke.

I put $5 down on a PC Preorder at GameStop, I wonder if they will even sell it to me now?

Pay $500+ for a GPU alone, get stuck at 30 max fps limiter.

Where's your glorious PC gaming master race now? The gaming/GPU industry has been massively trolling us while taking our money yet the masochists still don't get it.

Agree with this totally, I made a comment similar to this in another thread. We can argue all we want about which company is superior but in the end we have benefited little where game optimizations are concerned. Their is no justification for a top end card at this point in time.

Why would they mention the horrible PC port when each of those reviews mentions they are reviewing the PS4 version of the game?

Because when they presented it as such:

"Platforms: Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC"

Its misleading that such a review is representative across the platforms, when clearly its not.

Also, please guys, not every PC port is a disaster.

I've enjoyed Witcher 3 a ton and it runs flawless, zero crashes, no in-game bugs I encountered, performance vs IQ is also excellent. Even WITH HairWorks (x16 Tessellation override) performance is good.

Here's another bench, from Computerbase. Must say, it's the first GW title to run so well on both vendors... when it works. lol

What a joke, getting increasingly tired of PC gaming and skepctical of the GPU industry in general.

It seems like unless you are the .1% 1k SLI setup running at 4k, you may as well get a console because they offer the same or better performance at the same or slightly worse IQ.

I have a GTX780, but this is probably the last high end card I will buy.
