I have an old Tiger Systems pc with a PCChips M571 motherboard in it. The board is the old revision with 3 ISA slots, 4 pci slots, and no AGP slot. It has 4 SIMM slots and 2 DIMM memory slots. It's a Socket 7 board.

What's the fastest cpu I could put in it?

Will any of the AMD K6-2's work in it?

Thanks,

Palpatine.

I've been to the website. From everything I can find, it looks like the AMD K6 series is the best it can do. I was wondering if anyone had used anything faster in this board.

well the fastest socket7 chips ever made were the k6 series. You cant fir socket 370 or socketa cpu's in a ss7 mobo can you.

I had one of these boards, I forget the revision of it, but I was able to put a k62/450 in it at 400 (66 fsb/6x multiplier (jumpered for 2x on the board) and 2.2 volts) it worked fine for a couple months until I bought an epox mvp3c2.

here's a good site for the inside scoop:
PCCHIPS Lottery

I can tell you that I have a pcchips m577 and I was able to upgrade from a 266 k6 to a k6-2 500 mhz processor without problems. I had to do a bios upgrade, though. Not sure about the m571. also, note that the manual for my m577 said it would support up to 350 mhz processor, but at the time of the printing, 400mhz processors and higher hadn't even been invented yet!

good luck
