PC4200 DDR2 Ram

Hi,
I have a Noob question I guess you would call it. I'm not up to snuff on DDR2 memory at all!!!.
I have a chance to buy some PC 4200 ddr2 for a pretty decent price at least I think it is. Whats the fastest CPU that this memory is good for, also how far would this speed memory over clock. I know over clocking memory is chip specific, but a ballpark figure will give me an idea.
Any and all answers welcome
Thanks
Ed

Well for stock speeds this RAM would be good for any CPU that requires DDR2, and you can even OC a bit and run this RAM if your mobo supports RAM dividers lower than 533MHz. I'd say this RAM could probably do DDR2-600 speeds with loosened timings, but I would need the model to make a more accurate prediction.

How much are you going to pay for this RAM, and what capacity is it? I know that there are some VERY attractive deals on DDR2-800 and above right now...you could easily get 2 GB of DDR2-800 for under 80 dollars without rebates at the moment.

And I would recommend that you go with one of them, if you have any plans at all on overclocking. This G.Skill is the DDR2 that most people are buying, if they're tight on money.

Personally, I would recommend the A-Data Vitesta DDR2-800. Not Micron D9 based AFAIK, but if you Google around you'll find that it overclocks with the best of them...nearly DDR2-1000 on 4-4-4-12, DDR2-1100 on 5-5-5-15 timings from several sites.
