as i see it, the Athlon XP is near the end of it's life span and i doubt AMD is gonna increase the bandwidth that high when Athlon64 is there money chip.
I doubt you'll ever see official support for memories faster than PC3200 for 32bit athlon systems. Unofficial support has always been there though with the NF2 boards being so overclockable. I use PC3500 myself and I can bump the FSB up to 217MHz safely.
If you can afford the newer, faster memory but it. You can then use it on new A64 or P4C systems that can run with much faster bus speeds. Call it future-proofing your investment.
