PC3200 only?

I bought some PNY PC3200 on sale today to put in a 333MHz Athlon XP system. When I got home, but before I opened it, I noticed that it says 'PC3200 only' on the front and 'Compatible with DDR PC3200 (400MHz Bus Speed) Systems Only.' on the back.

I thought that PC3200 memory was backwards compatible and could be used on a slower board. Is that not always the case?

I agreee that it SHOULD be backwards compatible, but you have to watch, some newer chips are NOT BW compatible, such as some of the "new" PC133 memory

thats only because most of the new pc133 is "high density" and older intel systems dont support it.

but with ddr, its all backward compatable
