Since im going to build a amd 64 rig during the month of august, i thought i get a head start and start researching a bit on ram. I know i want ddr400 (pc3200) ram and something that can substain a fair amount of overclocking. These are two choices i have picked out from corsair:

Corsair XMS Extreme Memory Speed Series, (Twin Pack) 184 Pin 512MB(256MBx2) DDR PC-3200 - Retail 157.00

OR

Corsair XMS Extreme Memory Speed Series 184 Pin 512MB DDR PC-3200 - OEM 118

Which of these sticks is better? What is accounting for the large difference in pirce between two sticks and the single stick?

Dual Channel is overated, and it hinders you from upgrading to 1GB later on.

Get the single 512MB stick.

I agree with jpeyton, getting a 512 stick will leave you with more upgrading options in the future.
