PC3200 DDR 512 MB vs PC2100 DDR 1G??

Would the 512mb be faster than the 1g? Ive been hearing about his new dual DDr motherboards. Is it worth me paying the extra $$ for the faster rated ram vs just having more MB?
- I use my computer mainly for burning cds, surfing the internet, playing moives ect.

I would go for 1G of PC2100 DDR if thats all you do. I think PC3200 is mainly for overclocking, and it doesn't seem like you'll be doing that. I think 1G of ram is even overkill for what your doing but hey, whatever you wanna do.

Well without knowing more about your system I'd have to assume you're running @ 133/266 therefore the PC3200 will be of little to no benefit to you whereas the extra half gig would do wonders.

If I bought the new Asus A7N8X and a 2100XP would the difference be great in using the 3200 vs the 2100? I have a MIS K7N420 as it is with a 1800XP what about that board and CPU? I am also Using windows 2000, is there a limit to the amount of Ram it can use or type?

Unless you are overclocking the FSB of the mobo/CPU, there is no need in getting RAM that runs faster than 2100. If you run the RAM asynch from the FSB, you actually lose performance. If you run them in synch, then your 3200 RAM will run at 2100.

So get the 1GB 2100, unless you are certain that you will be overclocking.

Also if you already have a nice 1800+ setup why are you wasting money on a 2100+?

I have 512MB PC2100 (133/266) running at PC2700 speeds (166/333). PC2100 is fine for your what you're doing, period.

Do you have anything that will need 1GB of RAM? Why not save some $$? 512MB of PC2100 is $140-160.

Again, unless you overclock the stock 133FSB to something much higher, there is no need to get PC3200 RAM. It's like getting Z-rated tires (+149MPH) for a car that can't go faster than 100MPH.
