PC2700 versus 3200 RAM - Really THAT much slower?

Folks,

It seems like everybody's Athlon64 rig uses at least DDR3200. I've just upgraded, and have kept two sticks of DDR2700 (2X512 megs). Simple question: Is the performace bump going to be noticeable if I get rid of the 2700 and pick up the same amount of 3200 RAM? I can't imagine the speed increase would be gigantic, but please weigh in.

THX.

Don't Athlon64's run with an 800 MHz FSB? If you use PC2700 RAM, you won't be able to run your processor at full speed (I think).

If your system works fine with the PC2700 memory, then you shouldn't get (real world) a performance hit more than the speed difference in memory (I'd say a 15% at most).
