I need to get more Ram for my Dell. It takes pc2100 Ram, but it's more expansive than pc2700 ram which all the stores have on sale this week. I asked someone at one of the stores if I could just put pc2700 on the Motherboard, they said it would work but that in the long run the Ram would be damaged, because it was running "too slow". I really don't believe them but I thought I would check just to make sure.

Thanks.

Whoever told you that pc2700 rams will get damaged in pc2100 supported system needs to get hit by a bus.

You should be perfectly fine with pc2700 ram.

"too slow" for DDR RAM would be below 83 MHz (and even then, it wouldn't take damage). PC2100 is 133 MHz, far away from this. I'd even go with PC3200 RAM, just in case you need to migrate the stuff to a more recent system.
