I'm in the process of upgrading my box. Right now I have a P4 1.6A (oc'd to 2.4), 1GB Samsung pc2700, and an Asus P4P800S. I'm looking at getting a P4 3.0E, but right now I can't afford to get new ram to go along with it. Will the pc2700 be a problem? Or can I deal with it for now and get higher speed ram later?

You should be okay. I have a 2.8C running at 3.0 and my memory is running 1:1. I have samsung PC2700 clocked 430Mhz. No problems at all. You can always run it at 5:4 or 2:3.

If your ram will run at 200/400mhz, then your fine. If not, you'll have to get familiar with the memory ratios in your BIOS so you can run the FSB and the ram out of synch.

You might need a better cooler if you aren't buying a retail 3.0E.
