Currently I have an Athlon XP @ 2.25ghz (250fsb) but since I only have 512MB of PC2700 memory, the ram is running at 166mhz.

Would there be a noticable difference in speed if I upgraded my memory to say, PC3200 or maybe PC4000 and ran my ram at 250mhz also?

Thanks.

Should I go with PC4000 or go with PC3200 and hope it overclocks? :D
Also, how much of a performance boost are we looking at?

You would be better off getting PC-4000. If not make sure you get PC-3200 that uses TCCD chips like PQI Turbo or OCZ Platinum.

No those don't have TCCD chips. Look for the OCZ PC3200 EL Platinum Revision 2.

Edit: Here you go.

TCCD chips should have memory timings at 2-2-2-5 at PC3200 speeds.
