pc2100 vs. pc2700

Building a new comp, would the difference in a stick of 512Mb DDR pc2100 and pc2700 be enough to justify the 50 dollar difference? Crucial is currently sold out of the pc2100 so I'm thinking about the 2700...

here's the system i'm putting together...
Gigabyte GA-8IEXP Intel 845E Socket 478 P4 ATX motherboard Retail
ATI RADEON 8500LE 128MB
Intel Pentium 4 / 2.4BGHz Northwood 512K Socket 478 Processor 533MHz
WD WESTERN DIGITAL 80GB 7200RPM

What is the difference betweent the two exactly? I know the 2700 is better but don't know why, thanks.

same mobo and processor that i'm getting next week...I'd get 2700 if you're into gaming/graphic or video editing.

edit: and it's better because well, it's faster ;]

I always get one step faster than I really need in case I get the tweaking bug. 😉

Oh yeah, 2nd question: PC2700 is faster 2100 is rated 133/266MHz, 2700 is rated 166/333MHz. Other than that, the silicon on both could be from the same batch...
So I would suggest: PC2700, CAS2, ECC.

I would definitely get PC2700, but I wouldn't get it from Crucial because, IMO, they are way overpriced. They charge $196 for 512MB of PC2700. For about $150 (which is hardly any more expensive than Crucial PC2100) you could get either 512MB of Samsung Original PC2700 from newegg or 512MB of Corsair XMS PC2700C2 from googlegear.
