PC2100 overclocking

I don't know the brand name. My Sempron is supposed to be running ay 1.5Ghz on 166.66 fsb - It came with 512MB of PC2100 so I'm assuming it should be able to run at that speed. But I need to be sure. Is it safe to clock it up from 133 to 166?

It could be but possible not... you are talking 33 MHz, that is quite a jump.... try bumping it up slowly, and see where it tops out... if nothing else see about getting some low priced generic PC3200 and underclock it to 175 - 195 that way you will be getting a FSB boost

I think I'll have to buy some 2700 or 3200 by the looks of it. Changing the jumperson the board to 166 and the ram speed in bios to 166/333 seemed to work, but i don't want to test it for long use. With 133 jumpers set I tried increasing the speed to 155/380 - the CPU jumped up to 100 degrees C and crashed spectacularly. I'm surprised it still works.

What exactly do you mean? Look, you should be able to set the FSB independently of the memory clock. Also, most newly manufactured PC2100 nowadays should be able to do 166MHz. If the CPU jumped up to 100C, I think you must have done something wrong. Use programs like memtest and goldmem to test memory stability. Use CPU burn or similiar to test CPU stability.
