I need to buy some ram for my Epox 8KHA+. Here in Japan they have two types of ram -PC2100 133Mhz and PC2100 266Mhz. Maybe they do in the states aswell I don't know but..

Whats the difference? Which one should I buy? They also have funny brands here which I havn't heard of before (tried to find crucial but had no luck). :frown:

it sounds like it may just be a manufacturer's spec that is misleadng you. Since the PC2100 is used as a spec for DDR perhaps some of the manufacturers are calling it 133mhz, referring to the actual FSB frequency while others are indicating it's ability to double clock to make it appear faster than the competitors memory. Ofcourse this is pure speculation based on past expierence with misleading advertising. Post back your findings please as I'm curious if this proves to be the case or not. BTW, living in Japan......that's a 9 on the cool factor scale

List of brands:

Apacer
GREEN HOUSE
Buffalo
No Brand (ie, the brand name is "No Brand")

Hmm. Maybe you're right: They are the same, just marketing ploys.

Buying the kind labeled 266mhz would be the safest. Buffalo is good memory and Apacer has been running in 1 of my rigs for a year now overclocked and no problems, so I wouldn't hesitate to buy it either.
