pc100 ram at 133, what are my chances?

I have micron -8e modules on generic pcb I believe, that are rated at 125mhz. I am currently waiting on my p3 700 to arrive, do you think this ram or my kingston value 100 will do 133? This would help me a lot as I want to get my comp purring after getting my chip and I really don't want to buy memory at the current prices.

thanks

I don't know... if you could do it, it wouldn't be CAS2 and don't know how stable it would be. I know the Micron -8e is high quality ram, but I don't think even then that pc100 ram can do 133mhz. Maybe some very good ram could... you'll have to wait for more replies with people who have actually tried it. I assume you care about 133mhz bus speed because you want to o/c your 700mhz to 931mhz. If you ram didn't work at 133mhz then I would probably just o/c the processor to 124mhz bus speed or so (if you can of course) and have a little lower clock speed but don't have to spend extra money on ram.

Thanks eagle_2, I definately agree that 124mhz bus would probably be better than investing a whole lot into new memory. However it seems there are a lot of people on this board who are overclocking pc100 memory to 133 but they always neglect to mention brand. Also it's possible I could find a buyer for this memory and spend more for some 133.

btw I have the asus cubx if that helps any.

Micron 8E should hit 133, but i don't kno whow much higher it can hit..

I borrowed a friends 8E when I first got a p3, and got the ram up to 134 or so.

I have had Infineon cas2 PC100 @ 140FSB and so have a few people that I have sold it to. 🙂

Hey Mikewarrior thanks for the doubley delicious news! 🙂 I'm crossing my fingers that mine will clock to 133.

John, that must be some sweet memory. It seems the general concensus on this board is that infineon and mushkin make the best memory but i've heard micron is right up there.

Also upon closer examination of the memory i've noticed while it does say -8e it also has a 3 and a 2 printed above on the chip. While this may be coincidental is it possibly cas related. And is it possible that micron made more than one version of the 8e module??

thanks again for all your help fella's keep it coming

Hey I have gotten some oem PC100 to 150 just don't expect it to run at cas2. Its just like ocing its the draw of the lot!!!
