Hey guys,
I think I have fried my power supply, I shut down my system last night with every thing working fine but today nothing will come on at all. I checked the power source and it is working fine it is a surge protector battery backup. I did find a spot on the power cord that connects to the back of the power supply that look as if it has gotten hot. The light on the mobo that is on even when the system is off was not on either. I think that I have upgraded my system above the capacity of my power supply I have a 300 watt power supply. I built this system about a year ago and started out with a P4 1.5 ghz and a 12X DVD and a 7200 rpm HD and a GF3 card and a SBLive. Since that time I have added another hard drive three cooling fans , upgraded to a 2 ghz cpu, added 256 megs more RAM, added a 24X cd burner and just 2 days ago upgraded to the GF4 Ti 4600 w/ 128 mg RAM. I think that adding this card may have done it , I don't know if it uses more volts or not but it sure is alot bigger card than GF3 that I did have. My question is this .... is there any thing else that could cause a totally dead system??? Any thing else I can check??? If nobody else has any Ideas I will probably pick up a 500 watt supply tommorow. Thanks
