PC Won't Post RAM anymore. Why?

I have an Asus 2BLS
PII 450
256 Corsair Ram
Cheetah HD
Adaptic SCSI Controller
SB Live

Anyway; this all started after i installed an ATI Radeon 64mb card a few days ago. I was using the Canapus Spectra since I built the PC almost 3 years ago.

Just after installing the ATI, the first thing I noticed was when I booted up my PC, it just showed 256 RAM, but didn't post it. You know, when it counts up to it. Didn't do that.

After that time, it doesn't even show the 256 of ram anymore at boot-up; let alone posting it. Performance tab in my PC shows it. No noticable difference in the operation of my computer. Just very wierd.

24 hours after installing the ATI, I returned it to the store for other reasons. I personally wasn't happy with it. I sprung for a Geoforce 3 Visiontek card. Card is totally amazing btw, but still the ram is not posted when I boot the PC up.

Anyone have a clue what's going on and if I should be concerned?

Thank you,

Terrapin

Which version of the BIOS are you using? Later BIOSes go through the RAM check very quickly so you may not see it; a soft reboot also does not cause the RAM to be counted at POST. If all of the RAM is being recognised by the system, then I wouldn't worry too much about it.

The bios is original. I built the system almost three years ago.

The ram numbers always counted up before and only just stopped after installing the ATI.

It may just be a coincidence, but it's damn wierd.

ps: System is not overclocked
