pc wont POST, possible PSU issue

hey guys, i recently was hooking up the USB cable for my printer to the back of my computer when my wrist grazed the PSU cable and loosened it enough to power down the computer, but not enough to pull the cable out of the back of the PSU. Ever since then, my computer will turn on, the mobo will beep 9 times, and the computer will fail to post. My motherboard manual states that continuous short beeps means a power error, but my led fans and ballistix tracers light up and my vid card fan powers on, so im not really sure whats going on. i tried resetting the cmos by removing the battery for a minute or so and that didnt work. i have a pc power and cooling silencer 750 and a gigabyte p35dq6 mobo and i have pretty much narrowed it down to one of those two being the culprit here. if anybody has any idea as to what could have happened or what i can do to fix this that would be great. any info would be much appreciated. thanks guys

Hmmm....sounds like a tough one...does that power supply have a 110/220 switch on the back? I think most are auto now and it would likely be next to impossible to flip it by the sound of what happened but you never know. Good luck though.

Use the actual motherboard jumpers next time to clear the cmos and while the jumpers are in the cmos position press the power button on the case a few times to make sure its fully discharged and move it back.

Also, are you sure its a full 9 beeps and not a continuous beeping loop?

no that psu does not have a 110/220 switch and it is a series of long beeps (or was). anyway i bought another psu from best buy and tested it out and it seems the problem may be my motherboard. now i get no beep error when i start my comp, it just tries repeatedly to start and restarts before the POST. also i dont have the jumper for the cmos but the motherboard manual said to just touch the two prongs with a screwdriver and that will be enough to short the cmos so i did that and still nothing, i even removed the battery for like half an hour and waited....so yea. how could loss of power kill a motherboard? does this sound like a rma?
