PC won't boot

My PC won't boot after I shut it down recently.

I think it's because I set the power on function in the BIOS to be a password. Well, I typed in the password and it wouldn't boot. I think it's because I have a USB keyboard instead of a PS2 keyboard. This would be fine, but it wouldn't boot with a press of the button either. I didn't know that the two functions were mutually exclusive, but I guess they are.

The bigger problem is that I can't seem to reset the BIOS. I changed the jumper to the reset position, but still no boot.

I don't think it's a PSU problem for several reasons: 1. my mobo LED lights up, telling me it's getting power 2. I booted it up before, and my computer even restarted before when prompted by programs like driver installations, but when I shut it down and tried to boot it up myself, it was a no go.

To try to remedy the situation, I unplugged my PSU. I think I'm going to let it sit for a while and see what happens. Still, I would like a conclusive answer to my problem.

Any help is appreciated.

Hmmm. I'm not at home right now so I can't test it, but can it be that I didn't remove the power plug when I tried to reset my BIOS? And how long do you have to leave the jumper in the reset position?

Make sure the board is not powered before resetting the BIOS. Unplug the cord, wait 30 seconds for all lights to go off. Set jumper to clear the BIOS. Wait 30 seconds. Set back to normal, plug in, power back up, see if it boots.

I fixed the problem.

To reset the BIOS, I had to set the jumper AND take the battery out for 20 minutes. I tried 10 minutes, but it was too short.
