Athlon XP 1900
Abit KR7A-Raid
Gainward Geforce3 Ti200
Crucial 256MB PC2100
IBM 60GXP
Teac 24x CDRW
Liteon 16x DVDROM

Those are the only components connected

When starting the comp, the fans turn on. Then I hear a long beep and then it pauses for a while, beeps again, and repeats. all of this is happening with a blank screen. I think the problem is ram related. I tried inserting the ram in every dimm slot. When i put it in dimm4, there's no blank screen, it counts the memory and then it just freezes (i think), because i can't get into the bios when i press del. Anyone have any suggestions?

This is most probably due to a damaged or loose keyboard connection. Try plugging your keyboard in again or failing that, try another keyboard on the machine. It can also be caused by connecting a drive to the IDE cable but not connecting the power cable to the drive (eg. whilst testing the system).

If you have a USB keyboard, then note that by default the setting USB Keyboard Support in the Integrated Peripherals page of the BIOS is set to OS (operating system) rather than BIOS. This prevents you from entering the BIOS. The only work around to this temporarily borrow a PS/2 keyboard or use a PS2 adapter to enter the BIOS and change this setting. The more brave amongst you could also use modbin6 to modify the default setting of this BIOS option to BIOS. See How can I disable ACPI? above for basic details of how to obtain and use this utility.

Note that wireless keyboards may also not be recognised by the system at the stage you are asked to press DEL to enter the BIOS. Try a traditional keyboard!

BTW, DIMM4 is the correct slot when using 1 stick of ram. I took the preceeding from the definitive source for your board, it's Here

Right now, Only the videocard, cpu, ram is on the motherboard. It counts the ram, and says OK and everything seems to be frozen. I know it's frozen because i hit the DEL key and it won't go into the bios. It was the same for other keyboards as well.

what power supply are you using? Is it rated for your CPU? Also you could try another stick of ram. Hang in there brudda! post back if you get a chance. :)

Thanks, I appreciate the help. I have an Enermax 431W psu. I have also tried a diff stick of ram and still got the same result. Now I think the problem is that I have a bad motherboard.
