Hey guys. I am really starting to almost get second thoughts about building my computer. I was, and still am so excited at the fact of completly building and customizing my very own PC, saving all the money, ensuring the best parts, and all that good stuff. But I am worried about one thing.

It almost seems as if there isnt a SINGLE motherboard on the market for the AMD 64's that is reliable and even remotely trouble free. I know that everyone has problems with any product, computer related or not, but it seems that either more and more people are building PCs these days, so the problems are more frequent, or these AMD64 motherboards are just tricky.

I dont know much of anything about computers, and tomorow I am about to order all my parts. I am still completely torn on which motherboard I should get. I hear good things about the MSI Neo Platinum and then a bunch of terrible things about temp readings, instability, punkbuster problems, and a bunch of random problems, so this board really seems to have me worried. Then I look into the last gen boards thinking that most of them will have thier problems figured out by now, but nope. I look into the Asus K8V Deluxe and MSI Neo FiS2R right now but it still seems like tons of people have problems with them too. I realize there will always be these troubles, but what will be the total most trouble free board when it comes to instillation, and also in the long run? I am thinking of going with either of those two, the Asus K8V Deluxe or MSI FIS2R, allthough I have not 100% given up on the MSI Neo Platinum, it seems to be the most troublesome board out.

Here is my wishlist of what I am about to order tomorow from newegg. Wishlist

Just wanna make a double check here, maybe if you got a sec to look it over to make sure all this will work, and if thers anything better it would be greatly appriciated! I really dont have that much of a budget, I am a bit under my budget there, but I need to buy a 6800 GT and a 22" CRT so that should take care of that heh ;)

Thanks guys! Really need help deciding on the motherboard.. My head is spinning!

that motherboard is fine. like you said, there isnt a single perfect motherboard. in fact, there has never ever been any perfect computer component. every cpu, motherboard, ram, harddrive, and video card are flawed in some way, but most of the time, their very unnoticable. companies like abit and asus specialize on board making and make some of the most advanced and best motherboards out there. dell and gateway dont even come near to being anything as good, but all they care for is that their motherboards work, especially in the way that most people wont care about the other less important features like temperature readings. their motherboards are not very stable either, thats why they limit overclocking and other features. as long as they work, thats all they care. think of probability. the probability of having a really defected motherboard out of 100 may be 10. some people just happen to get the bad board and some dont. this basically means, dont base all your judgments based off reviews only. the abit nf7-s is one of the best socket A motherboards ever made, yet many people still had problems wtih them. its not because its not a good motherboard, it just means many have been defective during the manufacturing process. its kinda like the msi neo motherboard ur looking at. people love it, but people also have problems with them. i hope this helps you in your decision. :)

You have definately done your homework, that rig for that price is awesome. The only thing missing that I didnt see was the vid card; I suggest a BFG 6800 GT. Would make that PC smokin' fast.

Thanks a lot for all that advice. I really appriciate it. And hey, these boards look incredibly helpful when it comes to people having problems, so thats always assuring.

And yeah, I dont have a video card on there for a few reasons. 1) Newegg doesent have the 6800GT in stock 2) its really hard to find just about ANYWHERE at a decent price and 3) even at retail, its too expensive for me right now.

I've got a 9600 PRO that I can use temporarilly, so when the 6800 GT comes down in price a little, it will be mine :)

Thanks again guys :)

Since you prompted, here's some input:
Why a 550W PSU? An Antec 380W should be more than enough, even with a 6800 GT added in. (You said you don't know much about computers, so I assume you won't overclock. Even then, you'd only need 430W-480W.)
