Background: This is my third Abit mobo, so I am not new to Abit. I have not been overly pleased with the new mobo as it took a lot to get it configured to run stable. It's been running stable for over three months. I have had six IDE HDDs hooked up (4 via the controller card). I have noticed that the pc takes a lot longer to boot up with the additional HDDs attached via the controller card. If I just boot up with just the HDDs attached to the onboard controllers the pc boots up a lot faster and the overall pc performance is greatly enhanced.

With the recent cost of DDR SDRAM coming down significantly, I decided it was a good time to get another gig of ram (Corsair Value Ram pc3200) to put together a 2nd pc (my old setup - a KX7-333RAID). I decide that KX7-333 will make a fine FTP server and I will move four of my HDDs to the KX7-333 and remove the pci controller card (which now is no longer needed).

Problem: After putting the new ram into the KX7-333, the pc would not boot up. So, I try one stick, then the other one. No go. I try different slots with no luck. I take on stick out of the AV8 and put it into the KX7-333 and it boots up into windows just fine.

So, now I am thinking that the new ram is bad. Ok, let's try out the new ram in the AV8. I try one stick. Doesn't boot up. Try 2nd stick. Same thing. Reset CMOS. Ok, now I am gonna try to run memtest to see if I get any errors. Place floppy in FDD. Reboot. AV8 keeps giving me these long beeps and won't even post. Error code is 0.4

I am now getting really bothered. I now decide to put my old ram (that is now working in the KX7-333) back into the AV8. Unfortunately, even after I reset the CMOS the AV8 is now giving me those long beeps and still will not post. Error code is still 0.4 (with the "good" ram).

I am at a loss. I have checked all of the IDE cables, reseating them all. I have also checked all of the power cables. I am writing this on the KX7-333. So, I am wondering why my working system is now NOT WORKING. Any ideas???
