PC vs Console

old...

but i prefer console. something about popping in a game and playing it w/in 30 seconds, on my 50" DLP, w/my 5.1 surround sound, sitting on my couch with friends in the room playing a swell, i just enjoy better than having to install a game, run it, setup controls, change settings, run it again, change settings cause its still not optimal, run it, crash, download a patch, install patch, run the game, fix the settings again, stretch my back cause it hurts from sitting at a desk too long, being alone, and it all being on a 19" monitor.

consoles are just so much simpler and I enjoy games on consoles much more. i still have yet to ever find a PC controller that I actually liked. however now that the xbox360 controller works on PC, im sure there is one i'll like. but then i hate having to go change the options to map the controls in every single game.

I like consoles for sports games, and the 2-3-4 player games when friends come over.

PC for everything else.

but then you pay for ungodly long load times. Halo PC = instant.. Halo xbox = loading........ 😀

Console gaming can be a lot more relaxing since yo'ure just holding a controller you can sit however you want

Not to mention the wide world of mods available for many PC games.

If that's how PC gaming goes for you, then you need to get your PC looked at.

stretch my back cause it hurts from sitting at a desk too long,

Get a better chair.

and it all being on a 19" monitor.

Get a bigger screen.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy console gaming, but I also enjoy the crispness of a PC game, and the ability to use a mouse and keyboard.
FPS games on a console suck once you've played with a keyboard/mouse.

Both. I can't go without one of them as there are too many great games for both platforms.

Obviously some genres are better on a certain platform (fps -pc, platformer/fighting - console..etc) so I just get the best of whats out there.

In fact.. right now I'm going through F.E.A.R and Quake 4 on pc, The Warriors on xbox and will pick up Resident Evil 4 for ps2 tomorrow (yea yea.. its not as nice looking as the cube version..I have no cube so this will have to do).

i guess you don't know about all the mods for xbox games either ...

Halo on PC plays like crap compared to the xbox IMO. it just controls wierd. the whole swapping weapons and stuff, i could never get used to with a keyboard.

that is one FPS game I think plays better on a console than it does on a PC. however, any other FPS game I won't even argue, because yes, the kb/mouse is easier to control an FPS with no questions asked.

but everyone on consoles plays with a controller, so its still fair regardless. the people who complain "controllers sux0rs for console FPS. I will only use my kb/mouse, consoles suxrs!" basically are saying that controlling an FPS with a controller is just too hard for them to learn.

regardless, playing on 50" DLP + 5.1 surround sound + sitting on my couch + sitting with friends > playing on a PC. not to mention, i'm not into RTS or RPG games one bit, which I believe the PC has a huge benefit over the console in those areas, especially RTS. I'm into 3rd person action/adventure games (splinter cell, mario, god of war, ninja gaiden), sports, fighting, and FPS. all of those genres are the best on a console (except FPS, no point to argue), but I don't play craploads of FPS games. i typically play 1 for a long time. i played CS for years. now I play Halo 2 still almost daily on xbox live. Far Cry was the last FPS game I liked on PC. and that port on xbox is complte crap compared to PC.

I guess I don't... but I guess I also don't care, since I don't have an XBox 😛
But I would wager there's still a much larger mod community for PC compared to XBox.

i would wager you are correct 🙂

considering you have to hardware/software mod your xbox to run these mods, which I would think < 5% of xbox owners even know about heh.

No, I'm saying that they suck.
It's nothing to do with learning. A mouse is far superior in terms of accuracy than a joypad.

Agreed. An FPS on a console has to be written to take this into account.

Yes obviously a mouse is far superior in terms of accuracy because you can pin-point much easier. so like i said, its just harder to control with an analog stick, and many PC gamers can't garnish to the learning curve so they automatically dismiss it.

i remember wheni used to use keyboard only for FPS games, back in doom and wolfenstein days. i didnt wanna give the keyboard/mouse combo a chance cause it was just so hard to use that it didnt make the game fun. i couldn't enjoy myself using the kb/mouse back then.

then i gave it a chance, and yea, kb/mouse is far superior. but when you are on a console, you dont have that option, so you must use the controller and adapt to it. you would be missing out a bunch if you didnt PC game and didnt play FPS games on xbox soley because of its controls being too hard for you to aim with such precision and accuracy as you can with a kb/mouse.

xbox360 is going to have many FPS games because FPS games were the #1 selling genre on xbox, so that shows that many people can adapt easily to the analog controlling.

and as DivideByZero said, FPS that are on console first then make to PC, typically control better on the console. and vice versa with a PC first game that is ported to console.
