PC turns off suddenly without warning

Recently, my computer started to turn off (not 'shut down' but rather as if someone pulled the plug) randomly, and I really don't know where to start.

The most recent components I've added to my machine are a new DVD burner, an audigy 4, and a Corsair 520 watt psu. Before adding any of these I didn't have the problem. Common sense is telling me that it has something to do with the new psu, so there's a good chance I'll end up doing a rma to newegg.

The computer has only turned off maybe 3 or 4 times over the past week. At first I thought it might have to do with low voltage on my o/ced Opteron 165, but the problem still occurred when running at stock settings.

My hardware shouldn't be putting me anywhere near the 520 watt ceiling of the psu...my system:

Opteron 165 @2.6 (266x9 with 3/4 divider for ram)
DFI Ultra-d
2x512 Corsair Value Select pc3200 ddr
250gb, 300gb hard drives
4x120mm case fans (low speed)
ati 1600 pro (fanless)
Pioneer DVD R/W

Thanks in advance for any help you guys can give me. Happy New Year!

DFI boards have a reputation for being very picky, so you might want to check over at dfi-street.com.
They do push OCZ PSUs 😉 Do you still have your old PSU? If so. reinstall it and see what happens. Pull the Audigy and see what happens.

I had this problem once, fo me it turned out to be the power supply fan seizing and the power supply kicking out. Was weird because it wasnt a loud fan and would happen randomly so it was a little hard to pinpoint. Good luck!
