Hello,
I have DLNA working via J. River Media Center 17 from my PC to the PS3. Works like a charm, no problems whatsoever. I also tried out Tversity just for fun, and that works as well. If neither of those servers are on, my PS3 always finds my Win7 64-bit via the Windows Media center. So I decided I would configure that as well, just in case I forgot to turn either of the other 2 options on.
I ran through the setup, and it works as well, with one major caveat. When I select the icon on the PS3, it finds all the correct folders on my PC as setup in WMP 11. I navigate down to any AVI I want to watch, launch it, and the PS3 screen turns black. I have waited 15 mins before just to see if it would ever start, but it never does. I have to hold down the PS3 off button to shut it down, and when I restart it, it has to do the file system check. When that is done, I do exactly the same thing again, and this time it works. I have repeated this experiment many times, it is always the first access which hangs my PS3, and the second one which succeeds. I know it is going to hang when the PS3 hourglass disappears from the upper-right and doesn't come back. When it works, it pops up for about a second, flashes off, and comes back for another second before the video starts. When it hangs, it pops up and disappears.
I can't explain it. It always works on the second try, so I am pretty sure it is configured correctly. The other 2 DLNA servers both work flawlessly, so I am pretty sure my PC is configured correctly. Any ideas what could be causing this hiccup?
- Win 7 64-bit Ultimate
- Wired 100-Mb Ethernet connection via Asus gigabit switch behind the TV, which in turn connects via a wired connection to my Bell router/switch in the basement.
- IP address of PC and PS3 in same subnet.
- PS3 and PC up to date with latest updates.
Thanks,
BM.
