PC to projector(IN72)

my vid card (9600xt) in my video server has 1xVGA, 1xDVI & 1xSVideo.

i'm using SVideo out to my projector and the results are lackluster. i'm mainly outputting XVid movies and TV from my TV tuner.

the problem is that the projector has a variety of inputs, but no native VGA or DVI.

it has:
  • DVI - Requires M1 to DVI cable
  • M1 - Accepts VGA and DVI with M1 cable
  • HDMI
  • Component (RCA)
  • VESA (HD15)- Requires M1 to VGA cable
  • S-Video - 4-pin DIN, no progressive support
  • Composite (RCA) - Video only

would i get a signifcantly better signal using my DVI output with an HDMI or M1 adapter?

thanks alot,
robert.

Yes, you'll get a much better picture with either VGA or HDMI. S-video is limited to 480i and will generally look crappy.

You'll be able to get 480p with either VGA or HDMI. I think you could also get ATI's DVI to Component adapter to work with that card. If you want to get some reasonably priced component cables and then the adapter, that might be a cheaper solution than the M1 cables.

thanks... i went ahead and ordered the DVI to HDMI cable from Shop4tech.com.

it's funny that over on FW, there was a deal for these cables today that saved me some $$.

thanks again,
robert.
