PC to laptop wireless network setup questions...

First off, I apologize if this question has been asked before. I searched through some other wireless networking threads and was somewhat confused because I seemed to find conflicting responses. Anyways, this is my setup: I have my PC hooked up to a LAN in my apartment which is on the internet, I also have a second NIC in my PC which I currently use to network to my laptop via a crossover cable. What I would like to do is setup a cheap wireless network between the PC and the laptop. Can this be done by just getting a PCI wireless card and a PCMCIA one for my laptop and they will be networked? Or will I need a wireless hub of some sort? If I need the hub can I just get the hub and a pcmcia wireless card for my laptop and hook the hub into the second nic of my pc? If I don't need it would the second solution be cheaper anyways? What do you guys think?
