Hi.
i have an unlicensed copy of windows and today, for some reason, the activator stopped working.
A message popped up on my toolbar and it said that my copy is not genuine.

i tried reinstalling the activator and it told me to restart my computer. it took a while to shut down (5 minutes) and now when i try to turn it back on, its stuck on the motherboard splash screen

i cant even press delete to go into my bios

any help?

ps. i think my windows got deactivated after installing a windows update

specs
gtx 560 ti
8 gigs ram
ASUS P8Z77-V LK mobo

I have the gtx 560 ti and find it's a very flaky card. Well I have two, and was having trouble with the two at the same time, with only one I'm ok. My issues were different though and only happened within Windows. But could potentially be the card, do you happen to have another to test?

Another thing is the ram. Try removing a stick or two, and also swapping things around, see if it boots.

This would not be caused by the pirated copy of Windows, given this is happening at the hardware level. Unless by chance the pirated copy/loader has a virus embedded in it that affects the bios, but I have not heard of anything like that recently.

eventually, the motherboard splash screen went away (after about 10 minutes of waiting)
and after that i tried a system restore.
even with the system restore, the motherboard splash screen hangs for about 10 minutes and then starts to boot. After that, another screen comes up and said that overclocking failed (i didnt even overclock it?)

i tried the ram thing but it didnt work
any help?

when this happens jump into the BIOS hitting DEL key then go to save and exit and let us know what happened.

thanks for reading my thread, the problem is solved but now a new problem appeared.

my front usb ports does not work all of a sudden. i did not touch anything but i think it was related to the previous problem i had

any help?

ok many times a bios boot hang is caused by failing harddrives or incorrect harddrive settings in bios.

but if that suddenly fixed itself and now you got failing usb ports, i would suspect your motherboard might be DYING
